Study on Protective Tooling Design of Dock Corridor

As for a modern dock, there is a hollow structure on the top of the dock wall named corridor, which is used as the control room of the dock. When the offshore platforms slide onto the barge in the dock longitudinally after land construction, it passes through the corridor which cannot be subjected to large pressure. In order to ensure the safe sliding of the platform, it is of great significance for protecting the corridor structure. Taking the dock in Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Company as an example, a protective tooling of the corridor is designed based on the characteristics of the sliding equipment and the dock. The structural strength of the tooling is checked by FEM, meeting the regulation requirements. Force condition of the dock bottom is also analyzed and is within the range of bearing capacity. This tooling can protect the corridor effectively and provides a strong guarantee for platform sliding onto the barge. Also the protective tooling has been successfully applied in the engineering projects of Jack-up rigs in Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Company.
