To make oshore wind competitive with other energy sources, loweringthe levelized cost of energy (LCOE) is crucial. Steel for oshoreconstructions has a cost of up to 2500 - 3000 $ per metric ton when consideringexpensive and time consuming welding operations and shipyardrent. Consequently the re-design of the TLP focuses on prefabricatedconcrete components which oer a cost reduction by 90% as comparedto steel. By the use of prestressed Ultra High Performance Concrete(UHPC) pipes for the lattice structure and concrete shell elements for thebuoyancy bodies the amount of steel has been decreased by 95%.
