National institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) is currently developing the third generation polarimetric and interfereometric X-band high performance synthetic aperture radar (Pi-SAR X3). The radar is specifically designed to acquire a high quality SAR image and airborne repeat track interfereometric SAR data. This study reports the observation functions, such as across-track and along-track interferometric measurements, and performance, such as spatial resolution and noise equivalent backscattering coefficient, of Pi-SAR X3 system under development.
