Aiming at the problem of steel grating flame cutting, the algorithm of coordinate compensation including the coordinate compensation of Z-axis and the coordinate compensation in the XY plane is proposed in this paper. Through the coordinate compensation of the Z-axis, the Z-axis can move up and down according to the height of the steel grating by controlling the servo motor of Z-axis to keep a constant distance between the cutting torch and the surface of the steel grating. Through the coordinate compensation of the XY plane, the cutting point coordinates are calibrated, which makes the cutting pattern is closer to the production requirements. It is showed in the simulation and experiment that the coordinate compensation algorithm is able to achieve a constant distance between the cutting torch and the surface of the steel grating during the cutting process, improve the cutting track to a certain extent and make up the incomplete cutting problem existing in the steel grid flame cutting process.
