The estimation of the tire road friction coefficient (TRFC) is a requirement for several modern recuperation strategies and autonomous driving functions (ADF). In order to guarantee a high recuperation harvest and effective ADF, effect-based estimators need to be accurate, fast, applicable for the longitudinal and lateral case and for every wheel. Most important is, that they have to detect sudden TRFC changes classifier free. In this paper, three effect-based estimators developed for the longitudinal case are compared based on simulations. Under certain modifications all three estimators can be used for the lateral case with very good results.
