Analyzation of antenna measurement method for wireless power transmission

Wireless Power Transmission (WPT) is recognized for its ability to transmit power to devices without using any physical cables. In order to ensure sufficient power is being sent, proper measurement of the transfer function between antennas must be examined. In this research, the S parameter of the antenna is measured by using a Vector Network Analyzer (VNA). However, the impedance between ports has not been taken into consideration for the real WPT system. In this paper, we investigate the transfer function with two ports and three ports measurement of VNA. It is found that the measurement results of the antenna by using three ports is closer to the theoretical values compared to the measurements from two ports. The three ports measurement method is an effective way of analyzing the antenna for WPT systems.
