The Internet of Things promises a massively connected future, where hundreds of billions or even trillions of intelligent devices communicate with each other as well as with a massive cloud of processing and analytic power. Achieving this vision requires overcoming a substantial set of technical challenges. How will so many devices be powered? Will our existing compute, communication and software paradigms be up to the task? If not, what will replace them? How will security, access and safety be provided? This talk looks at these challenges and explores possible avenues for solutions.
