摘要

This paper outlines the transfer of a hydrocode based blast wave propagation caused bya detonation to a finite element code used for crash simulation in the automobile industry.With a combination of two simulation processes, the identification of weak points inarmored vehicles construction as well as the dimensioning of armor plates can be auditedin a very early development stage. The authors evince cost and time benefits resulting ofmultiphysics interaction of different codes in the development of non-military armoredvehicles at BMW Group speeding up R&D and reducing the requirement of costintensive prototypes. This results in a fast and convenient R&D process on manufacturerside, while providing higher quality products on customer side.
