Performance of a Water Main CIPP Product Following 15 Years of Service

In the mid-nineties, like in many other cities in North America, the City of Dollard-des-Ormeaux’s (D.D.O.) water distribution network was slowly deteriorating and there was an urgent need to start a water main assessment program and implement an integrated asset management program for the rehabilitation or renewal of its subsurface utilities. In the year 2000, the City of D.D.O. embarked in an extensive water main rehabilitation program and at that time, the City chose to rehabilitate its water mains, when possible, using cured in place pipes (CIPP). This new technology became a very attractive solution for the City since it offered many advantages such as reduced costs in comparison to the traditional open cut method, short construction times, minimal excavations, and reduced disruptions to citizen.
