This paper presents a control approach for improving transient behavior of an autonomous inverter-based microgrid employing secondary controller. A feed-forward loop is utilized to enhance the characteristics of active and reactive power responses. This stage is implemented in power controller section. It can be proved that this approach has the capability of improving the stability of microgrid using eigenvalue analysis. A special secondary controller is also used to restore the values of active and reactive power after its operation for controlling microgrid frequency and voltage. The simulation results operated on a typical low-voltage microgrid are presented to demonstrate the validity of this control approach.
