Peak load carying capability of a resilient microgrid in islanded mode

Microgrids might utilize a broad range of distributed energy technologies (including generation, storage, advanced controls, metering, and communications) to provide efficient, reliable, and resilient electricity to the connected end customers. Microgrids are identified as a proper technology to achieve a resilient power system during severe weather events. Traditionally, peak load carrying capability (PLCC) of a distribution system is acquired from Loss of Load Expectation (LOLE) risk level. However, a solution is not provided to calculate the PLCC of an islanded microgrid for specific reliability criteria. The proposed method utilizes microgrid unavailability criterion, and evaluates PLCC of a practical resilient microgrid in the islanded Mode.
