We present a localization concept that allows the tracking of UHF-RFID marked objects in logistics and production environments. The whole system design is shown and measurement results from both, an ideal measurement in an anechoic chamber and from an industrial environment, are presented and compared to each other. The UHF-RFID transponders are activated by a conventional RFID reader and localized by a triggered coherent eight channel receiver and a corresponding patch array. The recorded samples are processed by filtering out the carrier frequency of the downmixed reader signal. After that, only the load modulated sideband signal of the transponder is dominant in the spectrum and the signal is used for estimating the direction of arrival. For calculating the incident angle different algorithms, like MUSIC or Capon-Beamforming are presented and the overall performance of the realized localization system for passive UHF-RFID transponders is shown.
