With the view to streamlining fault localization process for building operation and maintenance (O&M), a novel architecture for managing decentralized building facilities information is proposed, by exploiting the information interoperability and reusability among Building Information Modelling (BIM), system topology, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology, and real-time data acquisition interfaces including Building Automation System (BAS), wireless sensors, Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) system, and Real Time Location System (RTLS). Cross-platform mobile and desktop systems have been developed based on the proposed architecture. It is shown that significant time-saving of more than two hours can be achieved on fault localization in a typical air-conditioning fault situation.
