Virtualized Tactical Code for an Affordable Combat Systems Trainer a.k.a. Combined Integrated Air Missile Defense and Antisubmarine Warfare Trainer (CIAT)

CIAT is significantly beneficial to the U.S. Navy because virtualization of the AEGIS combat system computing elements provides the trainees with ship-board representative experience. By using common hardware for different AEGIS baselines via virtualization, CIAT enables this capability at a fraction of the cost of performing this training on the actual AEGIS systems onboard ship, or at land based facilities with dedicated computing hardware suites for each baseline. The sailors get the same experience as if they were using the actual tactical equipment including the unique characteristics (e.g., "bugs") of the deployed computer programs. CIAT is a training capability that will greatly enable Fleet readiness to fully utilize the AEGIS Combat System.
