This paper presents an indirect matrix converter (IMC) topology to fed an open-end winding load directly from three-phase ac power supply without using any intermediate energy storage element. The presented topology is combined a conventional bidirectional rectifier stage and dual two-level inverter stage. The carrier-based pulse width modulation (CBPWM) suitable to this converter controlled is also presented. The proposed CBPWM is easily implemented by compared the high frequency carrier signals with the reference signals to generate the gating signals for all power switches in the converter. Theory analysis and simulation results are provided to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
