Environmental electromagnetic disturbances comprising the frequency range of non-ionizing radiation (NIR) can affect people's health as well as the proper operation of electrical and electronic devices. Scientific international organizations address guidelines for limiting exposure in order to provide protection against known adverse health effects. National administrations control general public exposure on the living environments to these radiations through regulations. On the other hand, Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) regulations apply to protect electric and electronic devices against radiations. They indicate the type of tests to be applied to equipment to verify correct operation, specifying maximum radiation levels to be tolerated, as well as emitted. Regulatory national organizations should address the environmental non-ionizing radiation control taking into account both approaches (NIR and EMC).
