Corrosion is one of the major processes in the industrial field. The use of inhibitors is one of the best options of protecting metals and alloys against corrosion. N and O-containing compounds have been described as good inhibitor to control the corrosion rate of metals. In this work the synthesis of Quinoline-8-carboxamide derivative and the investigation of its inhibition on the corrosion behavior of steel in 1M HC1 solution have been carried out. The influence of the prepared compound as corrosion inhibitor was examined by means of weight loss, potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The effects of temperature, time and different inhibitor concentration have been studied. The results obtained indicates that the inhibition efficiency vary with bath temperature, time and inhibitor concentration. The data prove that Quinoline-8-carboxamide derivative has a very good anticorrosive activity. Thermodynamic parameters for the inhibition process were also calculated and discussed.
