In order to characterize and quantify emissions from a number of oil processing facilities, oil wells, intermediate storage tanks, and gas stations in the SCAB, ORS methods were deployed at multiple locations using measurement strategies similar to the ones depicted by Figure 2. Simultaneous deployment of multiple ORS techniques allowed for an unprecedented opportunity to assess their similarities and differences, with particular emphasis on how to integrate the information provided by these state of the art monitoring methods. Observations of a limited number of sites conducted in the fall of 2015 clearly demonstrated the usefulness and applicability of ORS techniques for emission monitoring of small sources. This survey suggests that VOC and other pollutant emissions from small sources might be greater than previously thought. VOC emissions detected from gas stations were substantially lower than those from oil wells, oil fields and intermediate oil processing facilities. In order to access the full impact of such emissions on the air quality of the region, more extensive surveys of a larger, statistically significant number of number of small sources are recommended.
