摘要

While the large variability in study methods contributed to difficulties in the comparison of results across studies and in the broader interpretation of study findings, the available BC source apportionment studies provide useful information on the relative contributions of various BC emission sources in both Europe and the US that can help inform the development of effective BC mitigation strategies. Our review identified several areas for further research, including the need for more standardized methods for assessing and expressing uncertainties and for additional method intercomparison studies to validate methods and individual study findings.
