Sliding Mode Control for a Liquid Level System

This work considers the problem of nonlinear output regulation for a common industrial application, by means of a sliding modes (SM) technique. The main problem is how to stabilize the liquid level in an interconnected system composed by two tanks. Experimental results are shown to prove the efficiency of the technique, where a robust control scheme was implemented, which is not dependent on the parameters of the mathematical model of the system, by selecting the error as the sliding surface. The controller and the physical system were instrumented using NI-LabVIEW®.
