An avatar expression method using biological signals of face-images

Recently, a variety of research studies on VR (virtual reality) have been conducted, including those regarding the avatar-expression methods for which human emotions are used. But to obtain human biological signals, additional hardware is needed for the existing methods. Therefore, this paper proposes a novel avatar-expression method for which the biological signals of the emotional and health statuses have been extracted from human face-images. To acquire the avatar image, the changing color values of the human face-images including a variety of biological signals were first extracted. Second, by applying values to the avatar, it was then possible to observe the biological signals that are contained within the avatar. Through the generation of avatar images that are of a variety of color values, a more three-dimensional and lively avatar was produced.
