Bound state for dielectric waveguide with locally perturbed core

摘要

Cylindrical dielectric waveguide with locally perturbed core is considered. Using variational methods, we prove the existence of a bound state below the bottom of the continuous spectrum and obtain the estimate. One should take this spectral property into account when constructing an optical fiber systems.
