In this work, the impact of antenna types and locations on small terminal chassis for low-band LTE are investigated. Three studied locations are investigated with three different two-port antenna structures on 110 mm × 55 mm terminal chassis. They are quarter wavelength monopole as reference antenna, and two realistic terminal antennas, i.e. meander Planar Inverted-F Antenna (PIFA) and Capacitive Coupling Element (CCE) antennas. The simulated and measured results are presented in terms of scattering parameters and antenna losses. Among the studied configurations, discussion reveals the best configuration in terms of mutual coupling and antenna losses. The result applies to that both realistic terminal antennas too, and therefore suggest that the location of the antenna gives more significant impact to antenna losses compared to the type of the antenna.
