VIKOR for multi-criteria network selection in heterogeneous wireless networks

In a heterogeneous network environment, and within the surge of multimedia applications such as audio, video and voice, which require strict quality of service (QoS), Always Best Connected (ABC) Concept offers the best connection for mobile users since many wireless communication technologies were deployed to cover the needs of mobile users in all circumstances. Multiple Attribute Decision Making (MADM) is one of the first-rated candidate strategies used for Network Selection in 4G and beyond networks. In this paper, we propose a network selection scheme based on VlseKriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje (VIKOR) method, one of MADM methods. Implementation and simulation experiments with Network Simulator NS-3 are presented in order to compare and validate the proposed scheme with other MADM methods as baseline schemes.
