Original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and end-users, whether manufacturing or installing the huge variety of valves available expect a repetitive and reliable increase in service life with respect to valve sealing. In addition, improving valve stem sealing and reducing body-bonnet leakage is becoming a large part of developing fluid sealing programs. Predictability of valve performance and leakage while minimizing maintenance and safety concerns is a priority to all industry. In today's environment of stringent regulatory mandates the need for effective valve sealing programs and use of quality and proven valve sealing materials is essential, hi many cases success can only be achievable through well-defined valve enhancement programs and engineered material configurations. Supported by the fact that valve leakage issues can represent the largest percentage of the total plant emissions levels, we must move beyond searching for the solution through products alone. Consistent, predictable, repetitive and safe can be achieved with quality valve stem materials and programs which are capable of supporting those products. New programs such as the AREVA Valve Enhancement Program in conjunction with LATTY next generation valve sealing materials have been developed to optimize valve performance while eliminating excessive leakage issues. The purpose of this presentation is to introduce the attendees to the Valve Enhancement Program and the development of next generation sealing materials and configurations by: 1. Highlighting the internal capabilities of the Valve Enhancement Program (VEP). 2. Discussing the components of the sealing solution and benefits thereof. 3. Explain the importance of predictability and the benefits of the VPMD (Valve Packing Monitoring Device). 4. VEP database and capabilities to store, calculate load and friction and configuration. 5. The benefit of such program beyond the 5 year leak free warranty. 6. Discuss the differences and improvements of Next Generation sealing components. 7. To highlight the steps taken in R&D and manufacturing which contribute to the much improved yarns and finished packing products. 8. Designed and comply to meet the stringent requirements of the nuclear and oil industry. 9. Discuss reduction of valve maintenance without risk to safety or performance 10. Increase service life of packing due to new yarn technology and improved manufacturing practices. 11. Increase sealing efficiency of valves to develop consistent valve performance. 12. Highlight the mechanical properties of New Generation materials when compared to conventional materials. 13. Discuss the methodology behind new generation arterials and the specific applications where "added value" has been brought to the industry 14. Supportive test data and sample material will be available upon request.
