1. Sustainable development is an organizing principle for human life on a finite planet. 1.1 Although the concept of a sustainable development and even narrower concept of the energy sustainability is complex, it is important for humankind now and will be most important in the future. 2. The current paper presents a methodology and software developed to find the best combination and parameters of different type's renewable energy sources for stand-alone power systems (SAPS). 2.1 The results for the optimal configuration of the SAPS for a number of specific geographic locations are shown 2.2 The developed software has been used for finding the best combination of renewable facilities for solar, wind and micro-hydro generators using minimum system cost as a criteria.
