Formacel™ 1100: The Next Generation Foam Expansion Agent for All Polyurethane Foam Applications

The Chemours Company (formerly DuPont Performance Chemicals) has recently commercialized Formacel™ 1100 (HFO -1336mzz-Z), a unique zero ODP, low GWP, non-VOC, nonflammable foam expansion agent. Formacel™ 1100 is environmentally sustainable, and can provide excellent thermal performance in rigid polyurethane (PU) and related applications. This poster discusses research efforts and customer development activities focused on reformulating for Formacel™ 1100 across numerous application areas. Examples include exploring and understanding key variables involved with delivering optimum performance in spray foam applications including the first commercial demonstrations on large scale projects. In addition, the examination of compatibility in challenging substrates and application areas such as appliance and high temperature insulation. The culmination of these efforts and the implications for unlocking the unique advantages of the Formacel™ 1100 molecule will be presented.
