The influence of semi cone angle and eccentricity ratio on the conical hydrodynamic journal bearing performance has been studied using CFD and FEA based program results. On the basis of numerically simulated results following conclusions may be drawn. 1. The performance of conical hydrodynamic journal bearing significantly improved with increase in the value of a semi cone angle. 2. A conical hydrodynamic journal bearing with semi cone angle γ = 20° shows a significant enhancement in the value of direct fluid film stiffness coefficient S_(22) and damping coefficient C_(22) as compared to other values of semi cone angle in present study.
