Very high viscosity index oils can be formulated to meet minimum HTHS150 requirements but with reduced viscosity over lower temperatures 3. Very high Ⅵ oils can provide significant fuel economy improvement in four standard fuel economy tests, with a good correlation in 3 of the tests 4. Standard fuel economy tests each have a different "appetite" for engine oil formulations.
