The structure of the bump behaves linearly, i.e. there is no noticeable influence of large displacements The stiffness of the isolated bump depends strongly on the boundary conditions on its edges Periodicity boundary conditions lead to larger values of the bump stiffness than predicted by the simply supported model Interactions between bumps is important and leads to stiffening effects.
