Practical Education Programs in Kyung Hee University for Globalized Nuclear Engineers

摘要

After the contract with United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the construction of 4 APWR plants, manpower demand became a hot issue in the Rep. of Korea because of sudden growth of nuclear industry at both domestic and overseas market. Nuclear engineering programs at the university level in Korea have been expanded from 6 universities to 13 universities since then. Korean government organizations promote human capacity building for nuclear engineers in many ways. National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) under the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning supported training courses for the enhancement of education infrastructure. Korea Institute of Energy Technology Evaluation and Planning (KETEP) under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy also supported universities with many specialization programs. Another wave is coming from the Ministry of Education for promotion of advanced education including accreditation system. The followings are brief introduction of recent activities of nuclear engineering programs at Kyung Hee University (KHU).
