Realization of Data Analytics Projects in Manufacturing Using a Microservice-Based Approach

The increasing digitalization of manufacturing processes allows manufacturing companies to access and store data from the shop floor in order to optimize technical and organizational processes by value-adding data analytics services. However, the realization of data analytics projects requires knowledge and resources that are often not available in manufacturing companies. We therefore propose a microservice-based service platform, where data scientists can provide production-ready data analytics services. The manufacturing company can use these services to analyze their data. In addition, the platform enables several services to be combined to form complex service solutions. This allows the establishment of individual, user-specific reactions to analysis results and connect different data sources. We illustrate the possibilities of the platform by means of an application example.
