This paper simulates the transient response of three wind farms interconnected, rated 9MW each. Each wind farm consists of six Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) turbines rated at 1.5MW each, interfaced with power electronics on the rotor side. The three wind farms connected to the grid are built and modelled in MATLAB-Simulink. With the rapid development in Generation Interconnect Requests and development of the Hub concept, it is necessary to model the interconnection of wind farms to study the transient characteristics. The three wind farms are interconnected at a single point on the transmission line to increase efficiency and reliability. Analysis on voltage stability of wind farms due to faults on the neighbouring wind farm was done. A STATCOM was installed at the terminals of each wind farm to provide additional voltage stability and reactive power capabilities.
