Signal Processing applications with an end to end analog interface are primitively implemented by using a hardcoded DSP or MCU unit to execute predefined algorithms. However, when a need to reconfigure the existent system arises, it involves reprogramming the whole system once again. Also in the case of an iterative process, while fine tuning the system, such an approach is tedious in nature. Hardware emulators that can configure a user-defined signal flow are expensive and are based on an architecture that is incapable of executing the algorithm once the emulator is disconnected from the host computer. This paper describes a novel architecture of a hardware emulator that is independent of the connection state with its host since the emulator itself is responsible for executing the signal flow through its hard coded algorithm. Digital Manipulator of Analog Signals (DMAS) is a hardware unit that is constructed for verification of the algorithm for the hardware emulator and related results are subsequently presented in the paper.
