Diversified Data Management: A Case Study in Air Quality Data Management through Shop Personnel Involvement at Fort Hood

Diversified data management to support Air Quality compliance has been a success at Fort Hood. Over the years between 2002 and 2012 operators were phased into an electronic record-keeping protocol to support compliance reporting, starting with roughly 14% of compliance records being maintained by operators in 2001 and escalating to 88% of compliance records in 2012. The man-power savings provided by this shared workload has been demonstrated by an overall labor reduction of 77% to produce the annual EIQ document required of Fort Hood by TCEQ. The success of this effort has helped to instill a dedication to compliance throughout the Fort Hood workforce, and has opened the door for additional operator involvement in the Air Quality compliance program.
