This paper discusses the present situation of the shipping and trade development in the South China Sea area as viewed from strategy importance on shipping economic development. Based on analyzing the related factors of the shipping development, the relevance and dependence ratios between shipping and national economy are analyzed by regression analysis. The analysis shows that the relevance between the shipping development and regional economy scale is remarkable and it is economically beneficial to develop the shipping vigorously for the surrounding countries and other countries using the waterway in the South China Sea.
