As a result of the increasing food crisis, the increasing needs for food quality and safety. This requires the coordination of agricultural commodities supply chain. The paper establishes a comprehensive coordination mode in perspective of food safety. Two levels of coordination have been identified: strategic coordination including risk and reward sharing, mutuality, resource sharing, common goal; and operational coordination including joint decision-making, information sharing, logistics support. The mechanism of coordination is then proposed, arguing that reciprocity, trust and collective learning are the mechanism of coordination, these will be the key drivers of supply chain coordination for food safety.
