In this chapter, researchers proposed a new multi-interface MAC protocol (SMIMAC), which can exploit multiple channels effectively by using two transceivers per host in multi-hop WMNs. In SMIMAC, the negotiation phase was divided into several consultation windows. Each of them was followed by a short data transmission window. Compared with MMAC, SMIMAC can make full use of both multiple interfaces and multiple orthogonal channels to improve network performance. The simulation results show that the SMIMAC achieves almost eight times higher aggregate network throughput than MMAC in multi-hop scenario. The size of channel negotiation windows affects the throughput of SMIMAC. To achieve maximum throughput, it is assumed that the number of SA in each beacon stage will changed dynamically with the traffic. But how to determine the size of each SA is the next step of work.
