In this paper we study the relationship between bit-per-pixel (bit/pixel), resolution and video quality based on H.264. First, we choose 4 most representative 1920x1080 progressive sequences depending on the TI and SI of them. Then, we process these sequences into 5 kinds of resolution and encode these sequences to 6 kinds of bit-per-pixel. Next we calculate SSIM between damaged sequence and original sequence. Finally, according to the relationship between SSIM and MOS, we propose a model that reflects the relationship between bit-per-pixel, resolution, and video quality. The model in this paper shows that when the resolution is unchanged, video quality rises as BPP increased; when the BPP is unchanged, video quality rises as the resolution increased.
