An experimental study on the magnetic losses estimation by Steinmetz formulas for non-oriented grains FeSi laminated cores is analyzed. The influence of the involved measured data on the Steinmetz coefficients is presented, detailing the impact of the fitted parameters on the estimated magnetic losses. The experimental setup uses a laminated ring with primary and secondary coils, connected to a commercial permeameter, the measurements including hysteresis cycles for various amplitudes (up to 1.3 T) and frequencies (up to 300 Hz). Two analytical losses formulas are used: the classical Steinmetz model and the generalized formula involving losses separation. The study shows the major impact of the coefficients variance on the losses estimation accuracy, especially for higher frequencies.
