We study the optical properties of a Bio-Nano grating-like structure on the oriental hornet's brown cuticle. The structure is modeled in COMSOL to numerically calculate the reflection and transmission efficiencies. The calculation has been done for TE and TM polarizations for different incident angles over the spectrum of 400 nm to 900 nm with Solar Spectral Irradiance (Air Mass 1.5). The results then were compared to the transmission and reflection coefficients for surfaces with different profiles including flat surface structure with the same refractive index.
