Active noise control is a common way to face low frequency noise, especially when dominated by tonal components. Is the noise transmitted into e.g. the cabin of an aircraft the performance of an active noise system is very sensitive to the positions of the actuators and sensors. This paper introduces engineering and optimized solutions for the positions of actuators as well as sensors. The optimizations are conducted with an evolutionary algorithm and are based on transfer data measurements in a mock-up of a future aircraft. The results of optimized and engineering solutions are compared and validation measurements are presented.
