摘要

Reduced π_p and serum protein levels in trauma patients were indicative of injury and hemorrhage. Trauma patients with low π_p were more likely to receive blood transfusions during the first 24 hours and had longer hospital stays despite having similar vital signs as patients with normal π_p. In the absence of significant alterations in blood pressures and heart rate, π_p and protein levels were indicative of a requirement for blood transfusions and injury severity, which also correlated to increased syndecan-1 shedding. We believe that using π_p and serum protein in conjunction with current protocols could potentially improve early resuscitation strategies for trauma patients.
