The article focuses on the analysis of sonority in singing voices using samples obtained from choral singers. The goal of the study is to answer the question whether there are signal parameters that reflect experts' evaluation of sonority in timbre and thus can be useful to construct computer aided timbre assessment system. Sonorous voice is understood here as rich and full in sound and is claimed to be opposite to matt voice. For evaluation of the sonorous timbre time domain and frequency domain analysis were used. Due to the differences in the vocal scales of women and men, singers were divided into a female and male group. The assumptions and the results were compared with the opinions of experts. The results of the research are expected to contribute to the development of a method of automated computer assessment of singing quality.
