Analytic comparisons of the high-speed railway base station arrangement strategy in fading channels

From the perspective of information flow, we first investigate the relationship between average channel capacity and average service over an Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) channel. Based on the analysis, we then derive the base station arrangement strategy for the case with both large-scale fading and small-scale fading assumption. Besides, analytic comparisons of those strategies to that only considering large-scale fading are conducted by numerical simulations. In particular, we find that for the same service ratio, the relative difference ratio of the base station interval in the two cases is less than 0.6%. On the other hand, for the same base station interval, the relative difference ratio of service a base station can provide in the two different cases is less than 0.2%. The aforementioned results demonstrate that large-scale fading is the key factor which affects the high-speed railway base station arrangement in system design.
