In this paper, selective encryption technique has been proposed for reducing encryption time, where only a subset of data was compressed while satisfying the security issues. Along with selective encryption, confusion and diffusion algorithms are also used to attain better encryption. Chaos based encryption was done and its results were bit xored with the selective encryption scheme yielding better security. To prove the sternness of the proposed scheme, correlation, Number of pixels Change Rate (NPCR) and Unified Average Change Intensity (UACI) has been estimated.
