In this paper is presented a new mathematical model for the continuous conduction mode of the boost converter. There are taken into account the medium values for the currents and voltages in order to obtain a model useful for the design process of a controller for this converter. The obtained mathematical model is non-linear and it is linearized such that it permits to design a P.I.D. controller. This model is validated by numerical simulations in Matlab/Simulink in both variants - linear and non-linear - and also by implementation of the converter in MULTISIM. Results confirm the possibility to use this model for the design of the controllers which equip this kind of converters. It is expected this modeling method to be applicable also to other types of DC to DC converters. This will be the subject of future works.
