Under global climate change, extreme events have happened frequently. A major concernthese days is how to mitigate the hazards associated with such events. There are variousstrategies to reduce losses caused by fl ood and drought. It is important to evaluate and adopteffective strategies to reduce fl ood and drought damage, under limited funding and time.To deal with the risk of water shortage in the future, one has to select a proper combinationof short-term and long-term strategies with the lowest expected cost for their adoption.Thedecision analysis tool developed at SPRDM study, the use of the concept of integrated waterresources management.
