This study was performed to simulate outfl ows through control gates in the movable weirusing the FLOW-3D model, which is the 3-dimensional numerical hydraulic model. Through afi eld experiment for the Baekje weir located in the Geum river basin, the measured outfl owswere compared with the simulated outfl ows which were obtained by the analysis of eachturbulent model within the FLOW-3D model. The table of weir discharge rating by the openrate of control gates was provided through verifying the boundary condition of downstream.To select the appropriate turbulent model in simulating outfl ows by the open rate of controlgate, the measured outfl ows of fi eld experiments were compared with the simulated resultsby each turbulent model, which is composed of mixing length model, one equation turbulentenergy model, κ-ε model, RNG (Renormalized Group Theory) model, and LES (Large EddySimulation) model. From the above result, RNG model was found to the optimal turbulentmodel to simulate the outfl ows through control gates in the Baekje weir, which have the controlgates with the type of lift gate.
