Saemangeum is a tidal fl at in the estuaries of Mangyeong and Dongjin rivers, located in southwesterncoastal region of Korean Peninsula. The main purpose of Saemangeum reclamationproject is to develop an economic center of North East Asia and thus this watershed isundergoing a lot of changes making it one of Korea’s top priorities for Non-Point Source (NPS)pollution controls resulting from agricultural lands. This study aims at analysis of temporal andspatial variations of NPS pollution of Saemangeum watershed through multivariate analysisincluding cluster analysis (CA), discriminant analysis (DA) and factor analysis/principalcomponent analysis (FA/PCA). The dataset obtained between 2006 and 2013 from WaterInformation System (WIS) and Integrated Environment Information (IEI) websites consistedof 6 variables namely; DO, BOD, COD, SS, TN and TP surveyed on monthly/8-day basis at14 monitoring sites. CA grouped the 12 months into 4 seasons: winter, spring, summer andautumn and divided the watershed into 2 groups based on the estuaries in Saemangeumwatershed.
